One may hardly forget rafting, kayaking and canoeing experiences on the beautiful rivers of Karlovac County, whose 200 kilometres of stream are perfect for exciting and at the same time relaxing adventures. Why enjoy the river only on the shore, when you can go down the rapids and waterfalls? Why limit yourself by roads when you may use a boat to reach the most magnificent areas? The rivers Kupa, Korana, Mrežnica and Dobra offer it all to you, unlike quite a few rivers in Croatia.
Dobra is the longest Croatian sinking river, which after sinking in Ogulin springs near village Gojak, where together with water of Zagorska Mrežnica creates the most adventurous rafting route in Croatia. Going downstream to the bridge in Trošmarija is a challenge to all admirers of wild waters. The highlight of adventure in modern rafting in inflatable boats, which definitely must be undertaken under professional guidance of a professional skipper, is going down the highest waterfall, Buk.
The magnificent beauty and the power of the river, thrill of wild waters may also be felt on Korana, from Rastoke of Slunj crowned with mills up to Veljun; rapids and waterfalls rich in water are the best invitation for rafting fans. Waters of Korana downstream from Veljun to Karlovac flow through a picturesque valley and attract admirers of more quiet waters.
Mrežnica, on the other side, attracts canoeists on its way through stone passes and flowery meadows with its blue-greenish colour, travertine waterfalls, small islands and backwater, traces of human work and tradition, from old mills up to the longest wooden bridge in Croatia (208 meters) at auto camp "Slapić" in Belavići.
Kupa, the longest river of Karlovac is perfect for downstream trips lasting several days, with camping on the shores. While it is a quick and cold beauty having steep shores in Gorski Kotar, downstream from Ozalj it is a gentle valley river. Besides the river, you can enjoy a relaxing canoe or kayak trip on the lake Sabljaci near Ogulin as well. Swimming is a main attraction of such trips in the summer, especially near foamy waterfalls. After amusing adventures in a boat, you will enjoy relaxation and tasty meals with calming sounds of water and a view over vivid landscapes along shores of rivers and "seaside of Ogulin".
